A male nurse raped a teenaged patient in a disabled toilet at the John Radcliffe Hospital, a jury heard today.

Oliver Balicao, 33, admits having sexual intercourse with the 16-year-old girl, but denies raping her at the hospital where he worked as a nurse earlier this year.

The jury at Oxford Crown Court was told the teenager, who cannot be named, was rushed to the accident and emergency ward at the JR in March after taking an overdose of paracetamol tablets.

When she was moved to an observation ward, Balicao took her into a disabled toilet and raped her, Sam Mainds, prosecuting, told the jury.

He said: “She was feeling tired and drowsy. She had been given medication because she felt sick.”

Balicao twice went into her cubicle and began kissing and groping her underneath her hospital gown, Mr Mainds told the jury of seven men and five women.
