TWO men have been locked up for a violent racist attack which was filmed by CCTV on a Midland Metro tram.

At Birmingham Crown Court Jagpal Pritam Singh, 22, of Charlotte Road, Wednesbury, and Balvinder Hunjan Singh, 20, of Brian Road, Smethwick, admitted racially aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance.

Shop assistant Hunjan Singh also admitted common assault and was sent to a young offenders’ institution for 18 months.

Jagpal Singh, an electrician, was jailed for 18 months.

He said witnesses told the police that the two defendants shouted racist abuse and chants including “Asian power”.
