Iran Ramping Up Missile Production
VIENNA (AP)–Iran has ramped up its production of missiles capable of carrying atomic warheads, a key opposition figure said Thursday.
Providing what he said Thursday were secret details of those missile programs, Iranian opposition figure Alireza Jafarzadeh told The Associated Press that Iran had “significantly increased the production line” of its Shahab 3 missiles last year, and was now turning out 90 a year – more than four times its previous production rate.
The most advanced Shahab has a range of 1,900 kilometers (nearly 1,200 miles), he said. That is enough to target arch-foe Israel.
Working together with North Korean experts at the Hemmat Missile Industries complex in Tehran, Iranian engineers also were “70%” finished on prototype Ghadar 101 and Ghadar 110 missiles, which have a range of up to 3,000 kilometers (1,800 miles), he said, putting central Europe within reach. These missiles also were “ready for launch” within 30 minutes, compared to several hours for the Shahab, he said.

Intelligence chief defends 45 mins claim
One of Britain’s senior intelligence advisers has defended the claim that Iraq could launch weapons of mass destruction within 45 minutes.
Former MI6 chief John Scarlett, now chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee, said the 45 minutes claim came from a single source quoting a senior Iraq military official – suggesting the information was second-hand.
People were not at all unhappy about using single source information, he told the Hutton inquiry into the death of Dr David Kelly.
And in this particular case it was judged that the new intelligence was consistent with established judgements on Iraq’s capability, he said.
[We all know what happen to Dr Kelly....I suspect that other potential whistle blowers will be keeping their mouths shut on the run up to the war with Iran-ed]

Kelly said 45 mins claim ‘unwise’
Dr David Kelly told a key parliamentary committee the day before he went missing that it had been “unwise” for the 45 minute claim to be included in the government dossier on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction.
The full text of Dr Kelly’s appearance before the Intelligence and Security committee has now been published on the website of the Hutton inquiry – which is looking into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Dr Kelly appeared before the nine-member parliamentary committee in private on 16 July, the day before he went missing and two days before he was found dead, after apparently committing suicide.
The session came after he was named as the government’s suspected source for a BBC report claiming that the dossier had been “sexed up” at the behest of Downing Street against the wishes of the intelligence services.
