A MAP of migration patterns into Wales from former Eastern Bloc countries shows the exact picture of our changing population for the first time.
A study details how immigration from Eastern Europe has changed Wales’ cultural make-up. The study, compiled by the Assembly Government reveals:
How many migrant workers have come to Wales in the past few years;
Where they’ve come from;
Where they have settled.
The number of migrant workers entering Wales from Eastern Europe has rocketed since eight former Soviet Bloc countries were admitted to the European Union in May 2004.
Since then, the Welsh labour force, particularly in some areas, has been significantly augmented by workers from those countries, which include Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Latvia.
But the new report shows for the first time the exact characteristics of the economic invasion.
