IT recruitment companies are calling for the Home Office to close a loophole in the work permit system that is allowing a flood of cheaper information technology workers from abroad.
The warning came as new Home Office figures data showed a 32 per cent rise increase in the number of foreign IT staff entering the UK in the past year.
Some 33,756 visas were issued to overseas IT workers in 2006, up from 25,000 in 2005. The number is double that seen at the height of the technology boom in 2000. , and 10 ten times higher than ten 10 years ago.
