THE parents of a murdered ten-year-old girl have been banned from putting up a memorial — in case it upsets the family of the KILLER.
Mary and Graham Storrie, 47, wanted to replace a crumbling bench in their village with an iron one bearing daughter Rosie May’s initials.
The girl was smothered at a Christmas party by family friend Paul Smith, 19.
He is now serving a life sentence in jail.
But his grandparents live in the same village as the Storries — in Bottesford, Leics.
The parish council have rejected the bench, which would have been sited where Rosie May played with friends.
Last night Mary, 44, said: “This is not about the fact Rosie May was killed or who killed her. This is about having something in her memory, something for the children of the village. But the local authority seem unable to separate the issues.”
