Snow and bitter winds are sweeping across some areas of Britain and the Met Office has issued a weather warning for motorists.
The first falls have already started in Scotland and north east England as strong easterly winds bring temperatures down.
Part of the A1 has been closed because of cars getting stuck in the snow.
The Highways Agency has also warned drivers to be careful and to pack extra clothing in case of breakdowns.
