Parking attendants at a council kiosk have been ordered to stop showing their support for England’s World Cup heroes.
Since the beginning of the World Cup the two security men at the front of County Hall, in Martineau Lane, have been wearing their matching England hats with pride and had displayed the English flag and an England sticker in their kiosk.
The pair had specially customised their hats - a red butcher’s hat and a white baker’s hat - with the St George’s flag.
But yesterday the men were stripped of their patriotic regalia and a notice was put up on the cubicle apologising if their flags and hats had caused offence.
Norfolk County Council confirmed the security men had been asked to stop wearing hats but stressed it had encouraged support of the England team in many other ways.
