The owner of a Chinese restaurant who was jailed a year ago for money laundering has been imprisoned again.

Kin Kwan Chan, 43, who runs the Happy Gathering in Cowbridge Road East, Canton, Cardiff, repaid only a third of a £1.2m compensation order.

In 2005 Chan and his wife Carina, 33, admitted concealing criminal property and were ordered to repay funds.

Chan will have to repay the outstanding £780,000 when he is released from his sentence of three years, three months.

His wife had received a suspended term in 2005, and South Wales Police said Cardiff magistrates heard that she had repaid the £300,000 that she was ordered to repay.
