[UK MP's think its great to make this country poorer by sending money overseas-ed]

The transfer of funds is seen as one of the ideal ways to send money home to your family, however due to the abundance of services available, it can be very difficult to identify which one will be more beneficial to your needs.

To remedy that, the Jamaican High Commission in London hosted a launch for the ‘Sending Money Home’ to Jamaica project, which offers a range of money transfer services and products for the public to utilise efficiently and economically.

Users of this service will be able to log on to www.sendmoneyhome.org and benefit from the convenience and security of sending money home, by the services which offer the lowest prices and the best services.

‘Sending Money Home’ is funded by the UK Government and has received help from the World Bank, US Aid and other cooperate businesses to expand on options to send money from the UK, US and other countries around the world.

Development agencies across the globe have been contacted in order to send remittances to countries like Rwanda and more recently Jamaica.

Speeches at the event were made by:

-Atam Sandu, Managing Director of Profile Business Intelligence Ltd and Manger of Sending Money Home

-Diane Abbott, MP and Chair of All Party Parliamentary British- Caribbean Group

-Sarah Dunn, Senior policy and Private Sector Advisor of DFID Caribbean

-Her Excellency Ms Gail Mathurin, High Commissioner, Jamaica High Commission

Speakers discussed the growth of Jamaica through continuous remittance and the crucial role that remittance can play in shaping the Jamaican economy.
