OLDHAM’S education chiefs have been rocked by a 50 per cent increase in the number of pupils suspended for racist abuse and soaring numbers of primary school pupils excluded from school.
Figures obtained from Oldham Council by the Advertiser show that 209 pupils under the age of 11 were excluded at least once from school in 2005/06 – an increase of 15 per cent on the previous academic year.
