[I would hardly say they 'operate' at University more than likely just getting a education-ed]
BNP extremists are operating at Cambridge University.
A study due out next week found extremist and terror groups active at more than 30 education institutions across the country.
The revelations follow Education Secretary Ruth Kelly’s order for universities to clamp down on student extremism in the wake of the London bombings.
Anthony Glees, director of Brunel University’s centre for intelligence and security studies and author of the report, said: “This is a serious threat. We have discovered a number of universities where subversive activities are taking place, often without the knowledge of the university authorities.”
In Cambridge the British National Party, known for its controversial views on race, was found to be active, but in other universities different groups were discovered.
The report claims animal rights extremists are operating at Oxford University, and Islamic extremists at the London School of Economics and Manchester University.
Prof Glees said university tutors often had no idea about their students’ views and many undergraduates spent very little time in lectures or tutorials.
He said: “It is in this environment these groups can flourish without being detected.”
